The Little Mermaid is Rob Marshall’s reimagining of the classic Disney tale and stars Grammy-nominated singer and actress Halle Bailey as the titular character. Jonah Hauer-King plays Disney Prince Eric and Melissa McCarthy is the popular villain Ursula.

Also part of the cast is Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Awkwafina as Scuttle and Javier Bardem as King Triton.

The Little Mermaid sees the youngest of King Triton’s daughters, Ariel – a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure – longing to find out more about the world beyond the sea. Ariel visits the surface and falls for the dashing Prince Eric and makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to experience life on land.

Despite being review-bombed, The Little Mermaid is a faithful adaptation of the classic tale and introduces Ariel and Eric’s story to a new generation of viewers (read our review here). It features iconic songs Part of Your World, Under the Sea and Poor Unfortunate Souls with some minor changes to Kiss The Girl. It also debuted new songs Unchartered Waters and Scuttlebutt.

The Little Mermaid is now showing in cinemas.
