Not too long ago, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star Will Smith shopped the idea of a reboot of the series to a number of streamers. Announced by Smith in a YouTube video this week, the reboot has found a home at Peacock and has been ordered for two seasons.
Titled Bel-Air, the series will be a dark and gritty take of the famous 90s comedy sitcom.
Bel-Air will be based on Morgan Cooper’s viral video that reimagined how the reboot would look like if it became a drama focused on the conflicts and hardships of what it means to be a Black man in America today.
News of the series being ordered to Peacock came after HBO Max announced that they will be hosting a reunion special of the original The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air cast during the Thanksgiving holiday on 10 September.
