Despite an infamously troubled development cycle, it seems S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl has been a huge success for GSC Game World, with the developer reporting that the game has reached its one million copies sold milestone.
Revealing the numbers via a post on X/Twitter, GSC also added that “much more” have played the game via its day one launch on Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass subscription service.
The title hit the milestone less than two days after its simultaneous launch on PC and Xbox, reaching an all-time PC player peak count of 120,960 on Steam, making it one of the top 20 most played games on the platform at the time of writing.
While it’s heartening to see the game launch to such success, it unfortunately didn’t launch in the best of states, with numerous bugs and glitches present even after the numerous delays taken to solve its issues. Thankfully, the developers have promised to roll out fixes to smoothen out the game’s rough edges.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl released on 20 November for PC and Xbox SerieX|S. For more, check out how the game zones in authenticity and accessibility for newcomers, while still maintaining the hardcore experiences returning fans will enjoy.
