S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl has received a much-needed first round of bug-squashing, as developer GSC Game World has released patch 1.0.1 for the game across both PC and Xbox, providing over 650 fixes.
According to the official Steam patch notes, the update will include fixers for quest blockers, memory leaks, crashes, and other minor bugs. Gear and combat have also been re-balanced, with lowered weapons and armour repair costs and a reduction to Bloodsucker enemy difficulty being the notable inclusions, offering a slightly more manageable experience for players.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl released to impressive numbers, with over one million copies sold within its first week. However, the game was plagued with numerous bugs and glitches, including AI bugs, texture artefacts, and sound issues, all reportedly addressed in the latest patch. GSC Game World is certainly keeping to its promises by polishing up the title to a more acceptable technical state, a respectable feat given the game’s tumultuous development journey.
In addition, the developers have also revealed that the next patch would work on “fixing the A-Life bugs” and bring several free in-game content, the details of which will be shared via a roadmap coming later in December.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl was released on 20 November for the Xbox Series X|S and PC. Check out the full list of fixes included in patch 1.0.1 here.
