Square Enix Delays ‘Forspoken’ to January 2023, ‘Valkyrie Elysium’ Set For 29 September

For players looking forward to experiencing the fantastical adventures of Forspoken, there has been a change of plans. Square Enix and Luminous Productions have announced that Forspoken has been delayed to 24 January in 2023, but not for the reasons you might have expected.

Indeed, this is a purposeful move made by the teams. “As a result of ongoing discussions with key partners, we have made the strategic decision to move the launch date of Forspoken to January 24, 2023. All game elements are now complete, and development is in its final polishing phase,” the press release stated.

“We would like to thank you for your continued support and patience on this journey. Your excitement for the game inspires us every day and we cannot wait to share more about Forespoken with you later this Summer!”

Considering that Square Enix has plenty to roll out in 2022, this move is not that big of a surprise. There is Star Ocean: The Divine Force coming in October, as well as Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion set for winter, and pushing Forspoken paves the way for the eventual arrival of Final Fantasy XVI in 2023.

To add to the list, there is also the small matter of Valkyrie Elysium, which now has a release date of 29 September. From the look of things, Square has much to offer players in the coming months when it comes to roleplaying experiences, and the delay of Forspoken is not going to make too much of an impact.
