‘Star Ocean: The Divine Force’ Gets October Release Date; Digital Pre-purchase Now Open

Tri-Ace and Square Enix have kept fans in the dark since their announcement of Star Ocean: The Divine Force last year, but that’ll no longer be the case. The JRPG is now confirmed to be releasing on 27 October 2022, with three new trailers fleshing out its narrative, characters, and combat.

The first showcases the plot with a montage of clips that sets the tone for what’s to come in the sci-fi title, while the playthrough reel highlights a couple of combat mechanics, including a four-member party system, a Stop Mode that allows players to switch between real-time battle and pause action to change tactics, and a Chain Combo system. Players will also be able to expend AP to perform special attacks, with certain battle actions granting a temporary increase to max AP.

The last trailer is an eight-minute opening cinematic for Raymond’s campaign as captain of the space trading ship Ydas, and one of the game’s two main characters. Laeticia, the princess-knight of a kingdom on the under-developed planet Aster IV, fills the shoe of the other dual-protagonist role.

Star Ocean: The Divine Force will be available in standard digital and physical forms across all platforms at launch, but those looking for more than just the base game can also opt for the Digital Deluxe Edition, which ships with a 80-piece soundtrack and various in-game items.

Additionally, customers who early purchase any version of the game will receive a mini “game pawn pack”. The Lionheart’s Blutgang greatsword for Raymond and the Flashing Naglering dual blades for Laeticia are included in the pre-order for any edition as well.

Star Ocean: The Divine Force will be coming to PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam on 27 October, with pre-orders for the digital version kicking off today, 30 June.
