‘Spy x Family’ Season 2 Unveils New Trailer, Opening And Ending Songs

Waku-waku! The wait for Spy x Family Season 2 is almost over, and a new trailer has dropped in celebration of its upcoming release. Returning on 7 October 2023, the highly-anticipated sequel will be graced by two of Japan’s current big acts, Ado and Vaundy, in the theme song department.

The opening song “Kurakura (Light-Headed)” is performed by the former, written by singer-songwriter meiyo and arranged by Yoko Kanno, while its ending counterpart ‘Todome no Ichigeki (Finishing Strike)” is a collaboration between Vaundy and American guitarist Cory Wong. Both tunes are previewed in the video, which offers a tease of Loid and Yor going on a date, as well as one of the bloodiest and most violent arcs for Yor to date.

Kazuhiro Furuhashi is returning to helm the second season at WIT Studio and CloverWorks, with Takahiro Harada and Ichiro Okouchi (Code Geass, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury) serving as assistant director and script supervisor respectively. A full-length feature titled Spy x Family Code: White is also slated for a theatrical release on 22 December, with an original story in tow.

The anime’s pilot season aired in two cours — the first half in April 2022, and the second in October. Viz Media is publishing Tatsuya Endō’s original manga in English, describing the story as such:

“Master spy Twilight is the best at what he does when it comes to going undercover on dangerous missions in the name of a better world. But when he receives the ultimate impossible assignment—get married and have a kid—he may finally be in over his head!
