‘Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse’ Crosses US$500 Million At Global Box Office

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse has smashed box office records again, as the animated blockbuster has crossed US$500 million globally. The hit film has made almost double the revenue of its predecessor, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, which made US$384 million at the box office when it opened in 2018.

Critically acclaimed for its art style, which pushes the limits of modern animation with a combination of 3D and 2D animation, the movie is shaping up to be one of 2023’s best hits, coming in third after The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse also introduced a new cast of characters, with Spiderman 2099 (Miguel O’ Hara, voiced by Oscar Isaac) becoming an instant fan favourite, along with Spider-Punk (Hobie Brown, Daniel Kaluuya), and Spider-Man India (Pavitr Prabhakar, Karan Soni).

Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse, the third installment of the series, is set to hit theatres on 29 March 2024. While details are scarce on production, the film’s producers have hinted that there will possibly be multiple versions of Gwen Stacys appearing in the movie. Characters from the first two films will also come together, as teased in Across The Spider-Verse’s final scenes.
