Sony Restructures to Focus More On First-Party Games

In a press release today, the industry-leading giant that is Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced the intention to restructure, starting from April, to focus more on the creation of “attractive and powerful first-party titles.”

The move is to allow Sony and PlayStation to “remain competitive and deliver on its commitment to make PlayStation the Best Place to Play.”

Following the news of the latest God Of War and Detroit: Become Human release dates, this can only be good news for gamers looking for polished, quality AAA titles to grace the PlayStation platform.

As of April 1, Shawn Layden, the chairman of Worldwide Studios (WWS) and president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, “will concentrate his focus on WWS continuing to provide platform-defining content that helps drive the growth of SIE.”

Sony Interactive Entertainment America, Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe, and Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia’s sales and marketing divisions will report to Jim Ryan, deputy president and head of global sales and Marketing at SIE. He will also be overseeing the different regional branches along with John Kodera, who is president and CEO at SIE.

Ryan will be the executive responsible for Europe, and Kodera responsible for Americans and Japan/Asia.
