Gaming phones are naturally the top pick for users who play hard, but standard flagship offerings shouldn’t be underestimated either. Packing their fair share of oomph, they serve as reliable all-rounders that power users through basic day-to-day tasks, GPU-intensive activities, and everything in between.
Building on its predecessor’s already competent hardware, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra comes well-equipped to take things up a notch. The soaped-up device sports a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and an Adreno 830 GPU, now packed into a leaner, more lightweight chassis weighing 218 grams – down from 233 grams previously. Minor tweaks have also been introduced to its 6.9-inch display (versus 6.8 inch on the S24 Ultra), which touts slimmer bezels and the same 3,120 x 1,440 resolution, Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology, and 120Hz refresh rate as before.
On paper, the under-the-hood upgrade is expected to boost NPU, CPU, and GPU performance by 40 per cent, 37 per cent, and 30 per cent, respectively, resulting in improved prowess across the board, including gaming. As it turns out, all of that isn’t just fancy talk, for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra easily aced the gaming gauntlet of Zenless Zone Zero, Genshin Impact, Wuthering Waves, and PUBG Mobile.

All four titles played smoothly on the device with little to no frame rate drops – an impressive feat in itself as Zenless Zone Zero and Wuthering Waves are notorious for their demanding, taxing nature. In particular, its thermal management capabilities proved to be the standout here, surpassing expectations with a standard comparable to that of its gaming-focused counterparts.
