Samara Weaving Is Scarlet In G.I. Joe Spin-off Film, Snake Eyes

Ready or Not‘s Samara Weaving is the latest start to join Henry Golding in the latest G.I. Joe spinoff, Snake Eyes.

The Australian actress will join the likes of Haruka Abe, Ursala Corbero, Iko Uwais, and Andrew Koji in the upcoming Paramount, Skydance, and Allspark spin-off.

According to Deadline, Weaving will take on the role of counter-intelligence officer Scarlett, who is known to use a crossbow as her weapon of choice. Scarlett was first played by Rachel Nichols in 2009’s G.I Joe: The Rise of Cobra.

Snake Eyes revolves around an enigmatic ninja commando who dresses in all black and hides his face. A member of the military anti-terrorist group, it does not take long for Snake Eyes to establish himself as the group’s most popular member. He is also best known for his relationship with Scarlett who he is shown to be romantically involved with many times. His blood brother Storm Shadow, who is portrayed by Andre Koji, is also his archenemy.

Weaving has already shown that she can definitely pull off a badass action role with this year’s Ready or Not, which saw her starring as the newlywed bride Grace, who is left to fend for herself against her in-laws who are out to end her life.

Snake Eyes will be directed by Robert Schwentke with a screenplay by Evan Spiliotopoulous, and is set to release in theatres on October 16, 2020.
