There’s just something about nostalgia that keeps bringing people back to the good ol’ days, and the video game industry knows this best. With the recent re-releases and new launches of old gaming consoles like the SNES Classic, Sega Mega Drive Mini, and the Neo-Geo Game Machine, retro gaming is all geared up for a comeback.
Atari, yet another established name in the community, is certainly not missing out on the trend. The Atari VCS was introduced a while back, and now the pre-sale date has been announced. Available exclusively on Indiegogo from May 30, 2018, the pre-sale will also feature the Atari VCS Collector’s Edition that sports a special retro-inspired wood front, alongside its sleek black counterpart, the Atari VCS Onyx.
In line with its tagline “Reinventing The Way You Game. Again”, the platform offers support for 4K resolution, HDR, and 60FPS content, amongst others. Both versions are set to retail at US$199 for a limited period of time, with two other accompanying packages: the Classic Joystick and Modern Controller.
Shipments are planned for Spring 2019, so it’d be a while before interested parties can dive back into the world of retro gaming, but hey, good things come to those who wait!
