Pokémon HOME support has finally come to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, enabling players to transfer their beloved Pokémon from the storage app to the latest games. This update allows a limited number of old Pokémon to accompany players on their journey throughout Paldea.
Specifically, the roster of Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet has expanded by more than 70 species. These additional Pokémon cannot be encountered and captured in the wild in Scarlet and Violet. That said, if you already have them stored in your Home box, you can now transfer them to your Paldean party.
Some of these Pokémon — like Charizard, Cinderace, and Greninja — were previously obtainable through seven-star tera raids. But there are also several new additions, including legendary Pokémon from Generation VII and the Hisuian forms from Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

In the upcoming DLC called The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, more Pokémon will be introduced. In the meantime, these returning Pokémon are expected to bring excitement to competitive gameplay and provide an opportunity to reunite with our old Pokémon companions.
Unfortunately, certain attacks from previous Pokémon games are not being carried over to Scarlet and Violet. As a result, several Pokémon builds have been eliminated from competitive play. While this issue affects only a few cases, the main problem is some Pokémon can learn moves in games like Sword and Shield that are not available to them in Scarlet and Violet. Although you can still transfer these Pokémon between games, their moves will be reset during the transfer process.
If a particular attack is unavailable to Pokémon in the newer games, such as Scald on any Pokémon except Volcanion, it cannot be taught to the Pokémon using items or the Move Relearner. According to Serebii’s testing, if you send these Pokémon back to an older game, the forgotten moves can still be accessed. Nevertheless, it appears that competitive players will need to reconsider their strategies until these attacks are either reintroduced in a future update or potentially in a future game.
In addition to the benefit of transferring old Pokémon to Scarlet and Violet, players who connect their save file to HOME will also receive exclusive Sprigatito, Quaxly, and Fuecoco with their Hidden Abilities.
