Pixel art can be a tricky thing, but when it is done as beautifully as Blasphemous is, it becomes a fine art.

The Game Kitchen is cooking up a brutal action platformer with the help of publisher Team 17 to bring Blasphemous to a PS4 near you later in 2019.

Become The Penitent One and explore the dark lands of Cvstodia, hacking and slashing your way through all sorts of nightmares, and the bosses shown in the trailer are indeed grotesque and horrifying.

In Blasphemous players take up the role of The Penitent One in the dark gothic land of Cvstodia, where a foul curse, known simply as The Miracle, has fallen.
Explore this nightmarish world of twisted religion and discover its many secrets hidden deep inside.

Use devastating combos and brutal executions to smite the hordes of grotesque monsters and titanic bosses, all eager to tear you limb from limb. Locate and equip relics, rosary beads and prayers that call on the powers of the heavens to aid you in your quest to break your eternal damnation.

Of course, it would be crazy if you did not get stronger with each victory, skill trees and upgrades are yours to obtain if you are good enough. It certainly echoes Dark Souls and lives up to that expectations based on what is shown thus far.

Pray that you will survive long enough to appreciate the pixel perfect goodness that is Blasphemous, we know we want it as soon as possible.

Blasphemous will release on the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch in late 2019.
