It goes without saying that IT is one of the most terrifying and iconic horror stories of all time. The film versions of Stephen King’s classic monster clown, Pennywise, have been immortalised in pop culture history, be it the 1997, or the 2017 and 2019 iterations.
But what if Pennywise was a voluptuous anime girl instead? Japanese statue manufacturer Kotobukiya answers that very specific question with this:
We’re not sure whether to feel fear or fall in love, as the iconic clown has been kawaii-fied as part of the company’s Horror Bishoujo lineup of classic horror monsters reimagined as cute anime girls.
Designed by Tamaki Fujimoto, the Horror Bishoujo version of Pennywise stands at 25.5cm (10 inches), and sports the character’s iconic clown makeup, including the red balloon held in her right hand and paper boat by her feet, standing atop what seems to be a pool of blood. Nice.
Pennywise is currently up for pre-order via Kotobukiya’s online store, and will retail for ¥12,000 (US$112). Shipping is slated to begin on October 2020 – just in time for Halloween.

Forgive him in advance if he suddenly blurts out terms such as “Mind Flayer” and “Magic Missile”, because never once does he stop thinking about his next Dungeons & Dragons game.
