Following the reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has expressed support for the platform, indicating that previously exclusive Xbox titles are heading to Nintendo’s newest console.
During a recent interview with GamerTag Radio, Spencer praised Nintendo’s innovation with the Switch 2, stating that he personally congratulated CEO Shuntaro Furukawa on the new console’s announcement and is “looking forward to supporting them” with the company’s Xbox games. His comments certainly add credibility to previous reports that games like Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 are bound for the Switch 2.

In addition, Spencer also expressed Microsoft’s desire to bring its games to multiple other platforms, not just the Switch 2. “We want people to be able to play Xbox on many different screens,” he said, “I want people to be able to experience the games that we build, the services that we offer, on as many devices as we can.” While his statement wasn’t a confirmation by any means, it does open up the possibility of games previously exclusive to Xbox consoles, like the Gears of War series, making their way to Sony and Nintendo’s platforms in the foreseeable future.
Microsoft already publishes some of its games on the Nintendo Switch, including Mojang’s Minecraft alongside Obsidian Entertainment’s Grounded and Pentiment. With the Switch 2’s improved hardware, the company would have the ability to bring over its more graphically impressive games to the console from the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. To this end, plans are already in motion, with Microsoft recently signing a deal with Nintendo to bring Call of Duty to its consoles for 10 years, further cementing the company’s commitment to support the Switch 2.
For now, specifics behind Microsoft’s Switch 2 support remain under wraps, likely awaiting Nintendo’s official announcement of the console and its games, which is set to take place during a Switch 2-focused Nintendo Direct on 2 April 2025.
