The next generation of the Nintendo Switch experience is soon upon us. Following a recent string of leaks that resulted in the Japanese giant siccing their legal departments on the rumour-mongers, a new look at the highly-anticipated successor to the hybrid console has dropped.
In a sub-three-minute teaser for the Nintendo Switch 2, new features such as magnetic Joy-Con controllers with the ability to double as a mouse, improved joysticks, new triggers, a dedicated ‘C’ button, a redesigned kickstand, and a bigger display were briefly shown, alongside a full Direct showcase slated for 2 April 2025.
There will be backward compatibility for both digital and physical versions of games, although the company is quick to specify that not all of them are supported or fully compatible. Naturally, users can also expect exclusive titles that won’t work on the current iteration.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is slated to arrive sometime this year, but an exact date wasn’t announced. More information, including price, hardware specifications, and software launch line-up (a Mario Kart title was seen in the first-look trailer) is likely being reserved for the deep-dive presentation on 2 April. The specific time will be shared “at a later date”.

In celebration of the upcoming launch, the industry giant is also hosting a series of Nintendo Switch 2 Experience events across the globe, starting with the U.S. and France. Do note that a Nintendo Account is necessary to participate, with the full list of dates and cities as follows:
