The BBC has released new photos of Doctor Who and they’re a blast to the past. Or more specifically, the ’60s.
The new photos see stars Ncuti Gatwa in a blue pinstriped suit and a natural afro, and Millie Gibson in a black dress with big white lapels. Both stars look stylish in their ’60s garb as they pose by a bricked wall.
Gatwa plays the 15th Doctor while Gibson plays his companion Ruby Sunday. The Sex Education actor is the first gay Doctor in the popular English series and is replacing Jodie Whittaker who concluded her run leading the series as the Doctor earlier this year.
Doctor Who returns in November with three special episodes to coincide with the 60th anniversary with David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor. Joining Tennant is Catherine Tate as Donna Noble and Yasmin Finney from Heartstopper. Neil Patrick Harris is also among the cast. His role has yet to be disclosed.
“If you thought the appearance of David Tennant was a shock, we’ve got plenty more surprises on the way. The path to Ncuti’s 15th Doctor is laden with mystery, horror, robots, puppets, danger and fun,” said showrunner Russell T. Davies. “We’re giving you a year to speculate, and then all hell lets loose.”
Season 14 of Doctor Who is set to premiere sometime in November this year. It will be available internationally on Disney+.
