Mortal Kombat Movie Casts Jax, Liu Kang, Mileena & Raiden

A new slew of Kombatants has officially joined the roster for the upcoming 2021 Mortal Kombat movie reboot.

New Line Cinema’s adaptation of the hugely popular fighting video game franchise is currently still casting, with principal photography set to take place at the end of this year. Currently, the likes of Mehcad Brooks (Supergirl), Tadanobu Asano (Thor: Ragnarok), Ludi Lin (Power Rangers), and newcomer Sisi Stringer will join the ranks of Mortal Kombat.

Brooks will be portraying the cybernetically-enhanced fighter Jackson “Jax” Briggs; Asano will tap on his experience in Thor: Ragnarok as his own god of lightning in Raiden; Lin (having not been cast as Shang-Chi in the upcoming MCU movie of the same name) will play as another MK OG in the nunchaku-wielding Liu Kang; and Stringer will debut as the deadly assassin Mileena.

The casting of the above-mentioned stars joins Indonesian actor/martial artist Joe Taslim, who will be playing as Sub-Zero.

Of course, there will be notable characters in the Mortal Kombat universe that have yet to be cast, such as Sub-Zero’s eternal yellow archrival Scorpion, Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, and longtime MK villain Shao Kahn.

Directing the Mortal Kombat reboot will be Simon McQuoid, with James Wan as producer under his production company, Atomic Monster Productions.
