‘Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin’ Soars To PS4 In June 2024 Alongside Prequel Remaster

It’s been three years since the release of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin on Nintendo Switch and PC, but it won’t be getting the next-gen treatment. Instead, the turn-based spin-off of the popular franchise will hit PlayStation 4 on 14 June, the same day its prequel remaster launches for Switch, PS4, and Steam.

Announced in February this year, the Monster Hunter Stories remaster brings a new coat of paint to the original 3DS release with HD visuals, new voice overs, a museum mode featuring art and music from the game, as well as additional content previously only available in Japan.

The sequel inherits the same gameplay features, such as classic RPG-style questing, monster collecting, and turn-based combat. It will be available in both standard and deluxe edition forms, with the latter bundling in various cosmetic extras alongside the game itself. These include Kuan Coat outfit for Ena, the Razewing Armour Alpha and Beta player outfits, the Spiky Nergal player hairstyle, the Pukei-Pukei and Nergigante costumes for Navirou, and two sticker sets.

The standard collection, meanwhile, grants a pre-order bonus of a special Kamura Maiden outfit for Ena. Players who link their Monster Hunter Rise save data on PS4 with Wings of Ruin will also unlock the Kamura Gard player outfit.

The release date announcement for the Monster Hunter Stories re-release came by the way of the latest Capcom Highlights broadcast. It’s due for the PS4 on 14 June alongside the sequel, but PS5 owners can still play through the console’s backwards compatibility features.
