The gears for The Matrix 4 are turning, with the latest movie in the iconic franchise currently in pre-production.
The latest development for the Lana Wachowski-directed sequel sees the casting of Jonathan Groff.
According to Collider, the Mindhunter and Frozen star is cast in a yet-to-be-announced role, though we can only imagine he could be one of the suit-wearing Agents, given just how sharp he looked in Mindhunter.
Groff’s casting is part of Wachowski’s aim to bring together a “diverse, inclusive cast”, being the other gay actor to join the movie, with Neil Patrick Harris being the first.
Groff and Harris will be among the new faces of The Matrix 4, alongside Jessica Henwick and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. The trio will be joined by returning cast in Jada Pinkett Smith, as well as the iconic duo of Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss.
There has been no word on a premiere date for The Matrix 4, though production is scheduled to begin sometime in early 2020.
