Everyone’s favourite lawyer in pink is back!
Amazon and Reese Witherspoon (Cruel Intentions, Sing) are teaming up to show just how valuable Elle Woods can be with a Legally Blonde TV series. While some fans are hoping that the spin-off will centre around little Bruiser Woods, the plot is still under wraps, with Gossip Girl and The O.C. producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage set to pen the TV offshoot.
Though the streaming giant has declined to comment to the media on the show’s progress, there are hopes to turn the Legally Blonde films into a multiple-show franchise with a second potential spin-off already in its early stages.
While it’s yet to be confirmed if Witherspoon will don Elle’s iconic wardrobe once again, the star of Hot Pursuit is set to join the project as a producer. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she expressed her intrigue in delving into Elle’s life in her 40s, hinting at a potential new phase for the beloved character.
“I want to discover what age means to that character,” she said in 2019. “Ageing, contemporary ideas, how things have evolved — or not evolved.”
Fans can only hope that Amazon leaves their favourite characters as they are and remember the wise words of Elle herself.
“Whoever said orange is the new pink was seriously disturbed.”
