After revealing the four main villains of its upcoming live-action Spider-Noir series, Prime Video has stepped out of the shadows to give an extended look at Nicolas Cage‘s titular gumshoe in action.
In a new trailer unveiled during CCXPMX26 in Mexico City, the webhead is seen taking on different versions of Sandman, played by Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), and mob boss Silvermane (Brendan Gleeson, The Banshees of Inisherin), with a chunk of it focused on the relationship between Cage’s character and Li Jun Li’s Black Cat (Sinners).
While there’s a glimpse of electricity-based powers, fans would recognise the owner as a deep-cut foe called Megawatt, rather than Electro. The clip is available in both black and white and colour, just like the actual show itself, and watching it in the latter mode confirms black, and not white, webs for the character.
Spider-Noir is based on the comic books and has no connection to Sony Animation’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which elevated the shadowy webslinger into mainstream popularity. It follows Ben Reilly, who’s forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s only superhero, and will tap into classic noir influences.
Joining Cage, who originally voiced the character in the animated films, in the cast are Karen Rodriguez (The Hunting Wives), Lamorne Morris (New Girl), and Abraham Popoola (The Rig), alongside guest stars that include Lukas Haas (Inception), Cameron Britton (The Umbrella Academy), Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff (The Wire), Scott MacArthur (The Mick), Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, Amanda Schull (Pretty Little Liars), Andrew Caldwell (College), Amy Aquino (ER), Andrew Robinson (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), and Kai Caster.

The first two episodes are directed and executive produced by Fleabag‘s Harry Bradbeer, with Oren Uziel (The Lost City) and Steve Lightfoot (The Punisher) serving as overall co-runners and executive producers. Original Into the Spider-Verse trio Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal are also involved in the development.
Spider-Noir is set to premiere on 27 May.
