Konami has finally revealed the identity of the voice actress behind Metal Gear Solid’s Eva, a well -kept secret for the past 20 years, and it’s none other than Jodi Benson, the voice of Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Barbie from Toy Story.
This confirmation comes in the form of the recently released third part of the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Series documentary, which features Benson alongside Snake voice actor David Hayter. Check out the official video below:
Eva, who appeared in both Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, was originally credited as being portrayed by Suzetta Miñet. Fans were quick to point out that this was not a real name and simply a pseudonym, setting of a hunt for the real voice actress. Even back then, the similarities of Eva voice to Ariel led many to suspect Benson as the true voice talent, but now the long-running mystery has finally been put to rest.
In the documentary, Benson revealed the reasonings behind all the secrecy, and as it turns out, it was to protect her career. Prior to her role in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Benson was known in the industry for more child-friendly roles and had to take proper precautions when transitioning to a title that was much more adult orientated.

“The various projects that I am affiliated with in my career are sort of family-based, children-based,” she said. “It was actually Kris Zimmerman Salter, our director, she kind of sat down with me and she was like, maybe we need to change your name.” The actress’s eventual pseudonym was also chosen as a charming tribute to her childhood pet, Suzette Monet.
This is certainly great news for fans, who are sure to be delighted that their long-held suspicions were true all along, and they can look forward to hearing her voice once again in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, although it still remains to be seen if the actress will once again be credited as Miñet.
Benson and Hayter will both return to reprise their iconic roles in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, which is currently still set for a 2024 release on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
