Riverdale’s KJ Apa And 1883’s Isabel May Activated As DC’s Wonder Twins On HBO Max

Riverdale‘s KJ Apa and 1883‘s Isabel May have been cast as Wonder Twins Zan and Jayna in the upcoming DC Comics’ superhero movie, The Wonder Twins, for HBO Max.

This follows a February news that one of the writers for Black Adam, Adam Sztykiel is writing and directing a live-action Wonder Twins movie. Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, producers of The Twilight Saga and The Maze Runner, are producing.

While the characters are from DC Comics, the Wonder Twins are alien siblings who first appeared in the 1970s animated series,The All-New Super Friends Hour. The twins activate their powers by bumping fists and reciting the phrase “Wonder Twin powers, activate!”. The brother Zan can transform into water in any state (solid, liquid, or gas), while sister Jayna can shapeshift into any animal.

Apa is best known for playing Archie Andrews in the last six seasons of the hit show Riverdale. He also starred in Michael Bay’s pandemic thriller Songbird in 2020. May is known for her break-out work in Paramount+’s Yellowstone prequel 1883 as Elsa Dutton. She has a recurring role as Veronica Duncan on the CBS series, Young Sheldon.

It’ll be interesting to see what the twins will bring to the DC Extended Universe. So far, nothing much has been revealed about the plot or how the movie will be updated to meet modern sensibilities.
