Director James Gunn, who helmed the MCU’s Guardians Of The Galaxy trilogy and The Suicide Squad, is wrapping up his work with Marvel and shifting gears to DC, and Karen Gillan has expressed her interest starring as Poison Ivy in his upcoming DC universe.
Gillan previously played Nebula in Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and is looking to make the shift from killer blue to psycho green. She revealed in an interview with ScreenRant that she was interested in playing a version of Poison Ivy where her being “In a relationship with Harley Quinn sounds excellent.” Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn share plenty of history together, and finally tied the knot in the DC comics, as well as are in a relationship in the Harley Quinn animated series.
And she’s not the only one. Margot Robbie, who played Harley Quinn in the DCEU, also hopes to see Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn’s romance on the big screen. It is unclear if Robbie will return to Gunn’s DC universe, as Lady Gaga takes on the character in Joker: Folie à  Deux.
There’s plenty of openings where we could potentially see Karen Gillan as Poison Ivy appear in the new DC universe, with the Arkham Asylum TV series and the Batman: The Brave and The Bold film reboot in development.
