‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ Wraps Filming With New Images Of Lady Gaga & Joaquin Phoenix

The end of filming calls for a celebration, and Joker: Folie à Deux director Todd Phillips has prepared a special gift for fans. In an Instagram post announcing that production has officially wrapped, the filmmaker shared new images of lead stars Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix in character.

“That’s a wrap,” reads the caption. “Thanks to these two (+ the entire cast) and the BEST crew that the film industry has to offer. From top to bottom. Gonna crawl into a cave now (edit room) and put it all together.”

The sequel to 2019’s Joker will see Phoenix reprising his role as Arthur Fleck, depicted in the original film as an aspiring comedian battling mental health issues who would later become the titular Clown Prince of Crime. Gaga is believed to be playing Harley Quinn, with the singer’s involvement in the forthcoming movie first teased in a video of her and Joker dancing to some old-timey music.

Joker: Folie à Deux is currently slated for release on 4 October 2024. Not much else about the follow-up entry is known, but it will reportedly be a musical set outside James Gunn and Peter Safran’s shared-universe slate, referred to as the DC Universe. Instead, the movie will be part of the DC Elseworlds, along with Matt Reeves’ The Batman sequel.
