James Wan’s Atomic Monster And Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Finally Close Merger

Atomic Monster and Blumhouse Productions have officially joined forces, as confirmed by Jason Blum in a post on X showcasing iconic horror titles. The merger between Jason Blum and James Wan’s production companies comes after previous talks between the pair, and their latest film Night Swim starring Wyatt Russell (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) and Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Insherin) releasing on 5 January.

Previous James Wan and Jason Blum collaborations include M3GAN and Insidious, and fans can expect the merger to produce even more terrifying horror films, with Blum even saying, “We don’t usually put out more than three or four theatricals a year, and my hope is that with James we could double that to six to eight theatricals,” in an interview.

The merger will see Blumhouse and Atomic Monster working as separate labels while allowing for creative freedom, with ownership split evenly between Wan, Blum, and Comcast. Blumhouse’s most recent title, Five Nights at Freddy’s, clinched the title for biggest Blumhouse opening weekend, while James Wan’s Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom is currently in theatres, grossing over US$269 million in box offices worldwide.

Atomic Monster and Blumhouse’s merger comes as a welcome move in the horror scene, and with two of the most accomplished faces of horror now under the same roof, there’s room for more ambitious projects.
