Universal is looking to revive Frankenstein, one of their most iconic Universal Monsters besides Dracula, with two films currently in development at Netflix. Written by Mary Shelley, the classic story follows Frankenstein, a young scientist, who creates a sentient creature that results in tragedy when his experiment gets out of hand.

Frankenstein joins Elordi’s roster of films and TV shows he’s been in, previously starring in Saltburn and Euphoria, and even played Elvis Presley in Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla.

The adaptation also boasts a star-studded cast, with Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Christopher Waltz (Alita: Battle Angel) and Felix Kammerer (All Quiet on the Western Front) confirmed to be in the cast, though their roles are currently unknown.

Details are scarce about the film, but with casting news, it’s likely that Frankenstein might go into production within the next year.
