IGN’s Summer Of Gaming Event To Fill E3 2020 Void

Although E3 2020 has been cancelled, with the ESA looking forward to E3 2021 instead because of COVID-19, the void of a major gaming event in June still feels strange. In light of that, IGN has announced an online event to fill that hole. The Summer of Gaming will take place in early June as a replacement of sorts for E3.

The event will be supported by many publishers. The likes of 2K, Square Enix, SEGA, Bandai Namco, Amazon, Google Stadia, Twitter, Devolver Digital, and THQ Nordic have been confirmed. More is likely to join in and revealed at a later date.

“With the next generation of console gaming kicking off later this year and gamers eager to learn more about what games they’ll be playing on their new hardware, our online event will be a key moment for publishers and developers to connect with the audience worldwide,” Peer Schneider, Chief Content and Product Officer at IGN stated.

Gamers can expect live broadcasts, publisher presentations, developer interviews, hands-on demos, and more during the Summer of Gaming event.

More and more people are turning towards video games for entertainment and escapism. Last week we saw new records for traffic across all of our platforms — we’re excited to bring this Global, Digital Event to our audiences and partners- as this will be an event not to be missed.

Audiences watching the event from around the world can participate as well, sending in reaction videos, voting on favourite announcements, and more. IGN will be sharing more details in the weeks to come.
