Donnie Yen is joining Keanu Reeves in John Wick 4. The famous IP Man star will be playing an old friend of Wick’s who shares the same history and same enemies.
Whilst not much else is known about the upcoming movie, the idea of Yen and Reeves going together on exploits is truly something to look forward to. Yen is known for his wushu moves and his long list of credits as an actor and filmmaker in Asia.
The Hong Kong action star’s popularity has also extended worldwide as seen in his roles in big feature films like xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Mulan, Blade II and more.
Speaking in a statement, John Wick 4 director Chad Stahelski said: “We are very lucky to have Donnie Yen join the franchise…I am looking forward to working with him in this exciting new role.”
“Donnie Yen will bring a vibrant and powerful energy to the franchise. We were determined to bring him on board to John Wick 4 and are thrilled for the opportunity to have such a major talent to collaborate with Keanu,” added producer Basil Iwanyk.
Yen joins the previously cast Japanese-British singer-songwriter and model Rina Sawayama, who will be making her feature film debut in the John Wick sequel. No other casting has been announced.
John Wick: Chapter 4 is currently scheduled for release on 27 May 2022.
