‘Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective’ Remaster Haunts With New HD Demo

It’s been over 10 years since we last played Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective on the Nintendo DS, but with a remaster on the way, fans can once again solve its many intricately designed puzzles in full HD glory. Even better yet, they can do so through the Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective demo today.

For the uninitiated, the story of Ghost Trick follows a spirit called Sissel as he tries to solve his own murder and save others from suffering the same fate. He does so by possessing objects to perform actions and influence those around him, and turning back time.

The trailer, shown in Capcom’s June 2023 Showcase, features Sissel manipulating ladders, bicycles, and gantries to distract an assassin. Hosting the feature was the director of Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Shu Takumi, who expressed his optimism that the demo will serve as a “doorway inviting [the player] into a great big mystery.” He believes the HD remaster will also birth new fans for the IP.

The Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective demo is available right now for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam, and is playable up to Chapter 2 of the game’s story. The saved data can be carried over to the full version, so players can pick up where they left off once the game is officially out. There are also bonuses that can be claimed through the demo, including screen backgrounds and a BGM track.
