Dragon's Dogma 2 Trailer

‘Dragon’s Dogma 2’ Promises Immersive Fantasy World That’s 4 Times Bigger

The first Dragon’s Dogma in 2012 was ahead of its time — it’s one of the first few games that made the “monster mounting” mechanic one of Capcom’s many staples in their game design today (like Monster Hunter: World and Monster Hunter Rise). The new trailer for Dragon’s Dogma 2 shows a high fantasy world with more monster mounting, combat varieties, and a world that is four times bigger than the first game.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a single-player sequel that will feel like a co-op. Just like its predecessor, fans will play alongside AI-driven pawns in an action role-playing open-world environment. The player, also known as the ‘Arisen’, will start off with a player-customised ‘Main Pawn’. Two other pawns created by other players can join in the adventure.

According to game director Hideaki Itsuno, players would be able to command pawns in a more precise manner compared to the first game. The game is powered by the RE Engine, featuring a world that is “roughly four times the original Dragon’s Dogma,” and filled with immersive destructive physics, more vocations, and powerful AI for a deeper fantasy experience that caters to various play styles.

Itsuno also revealed two debut characters who are pivotal to the story: Ulrika, a bow wielder with a deep connection to the Arisen, and Nadinia, a high priestess and empress of the Beastren. It’s unclear how they will affect the story in Dragon’s Dogma 2, however.

No release date has been given for Dragon’s Dogma 2, but it will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. The game looks amazing, and we can’t wait to mount more monsters like Medusa (ahem). In the meantime, there’s the Netflix anime adaption to tide over the wait.
