Emily Blunt Urges Tom Cruise, Says She’s Ready For ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ Sequel

In an interview with Happy Sad Confused podcast, Blunt admitted she’s just as eager to see an Edge of Tomorrow sequel as everyone else.

“I’m so ready,” said Blunt. “I’m not the impediment, I promise.”

Blunt played Rita Vrataski in the 2014 film in which Cruise played a PR executive who keeps reliving the same day over and over again as he battles against aliens. After 9 years, Blunt is incredibly keen to reprise her role and revealed that she’s actually read a potential sequel script from director Doug Liman.

“There was one that Doug [Liman] slithered over to me and like… I would love to make it a reality, but I just don’t know when or how,” continued Blunt.

Fans have been clamouring for a sequel since the first movie was released but there has been little progress since then. Blunt then suggested that Cruise’s Mission: Impossible commitments are why the project hasn’t been moving forward.

“How many Mission: Impossibles does [Tom Cruise] need? Come on! Wasn’t he brilliant as a cowardly hero? Incredible.”

Aside from director Liman and actress Blunt’s keen interest in an Edge of Tomorrow 2, it is still mere talks at this point. After all, the movie’s main star Cruise still has his Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 2 to film.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 is now out in cinemas.
