Lando Calrissian is not coming back in a series. Instead, he will return in a theatrical feature film.

Lando writer Stephen Glover dropped the news in a recent appearance on the Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast.

“It’s not even a show,” revealed Stephen Glover. “The idea right now is to do a movie. … Right now because of the strike, it’s like [a game of] telephone.”

Stephen Glover first took up the writing role in July after the departure of Justin Simien. The writer is best known for writing and executive producing TV series Atlanta and Swarm. Co-writing the movie with him is his brother Donald Glover, who is also attached to play the role of Lando.

Donald Glover’s Lando first appeared in Solo: A Star Wars Story. The 2018 movie was a spin-off movie set about 13 years before the events of The Empire Strikes Back. Although the movie didn’t fair as well as Lucasfilm expected, fans were taken by Glover’s interpretation of the character.

Prior to Glover, the role of Lando was played by Billy Dee Williams. Williams played the role in 1980’s The Empire Strikes Back, 1983’s Return of the Jedi and 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.

Little is known about Lando‘s plot. It was first announced as a TV series in 2020 alongside other Star Wars projects including Ahsoka and The Acolyte.
