Camera technology powerhouse DJI has announced the next generation of its portable gimbal camera, the Osmo Pocket 4, which marks a notable improvement over its predecessors with 4K/240fps support, improved low-light functionality, and intelligent tracking capabilities.

Featuring a 1-inch CMOS sensor and f/2.0 aperture, the Osmo Pocket 4 promises natural-looking captures even in low light conditions. Complete with 14 stops of dynamic range and a 10-bit D-Log colour profile, users will be able to produce shots with true-to-life colours, no matter their environment, all recorded in a crisp 4K resolution and at up to a smooth 240fps, even while shooting in slow-motion.
To streamline the creative process, the Osmo Pocket 4 also features intuitive controls built into the device itself. Recording, for example, can be started by simply rotating the screen, which also reveals a dedicated zoom button that toggles between 1x, 2x, and 4x zoom, alongside a custom preset button that can be customised to a user’s liking. The gimbal also features a 5D joystick that can move the camera backwards, recenter the gimbal, or flip the camera, with the unit itself housing 107GB of built-in storage for easy use without external memory cards.
In addition to the standard video mode, the Osmo Pocket 4 also features a range of creative tools to allow for more unique shots, including a Slow Shutter Video mode to capture movement trails and the passage of time, Film Tones that can recreate classic styles, In-Camera Beautify to touch up selfies or group shots for a more natural look, or an external fill light adds natural lighting to enhance low-light or backlit scenes.
To ensure silky camera movements, the Osmo Pocket 4 features a three-axis stabilisation system to keep shots steady, with in-built features like ActiveTrack 7.0 that allow for subjects to be tracked even at 4x zoom. The gimbal also features Intelligent AutoFocus, which helps to ensure subjects remain sharp during movement, with options for “Subject Lock Tracking”, which automatically locks and tracks a selected target, or “Registered Subject Priority”, which prioritises focusing on a pre-registered subject. While the Osmo Pocket 4 is able to capture audio via its built-in microphone array, it also supports direct connection to DJI Mic transmitters, enabling a 4-channel audio recording, with supported DJI Mic transmitters including the Mic 2, Mic 3, and Mic Mini.
