Daisy Ridley Wants John Boyega Back For Her New Star Wars Film

Daisy Ridley is set to return as Rey in the upcoming Star Wars movie directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel), marking her return to the galaxy far, far away fifteen years after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Set in the New Jedi Order era, the new film centres around Daisy Ridley’s character, Rey, and her efforts to rejuvenate the Jedi Order. Speculation is rife about John Boyega reprising his role as Finn, especially given the sequel trilogy’s hints at his Force-sensitivity. Ridley, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, expressed her hope for Boyega’s return, stating, “Absolutely, of course. It feels like we should, yeah.” However, no official confirmation has been made regarding Boyega’s involvement.

While Ridley is the only actor currently confirmed for the film, the potential inclusion of Finn would align well with the narrative, considering his close relationship with Rey and the shared experiences from the sequel trilogy. The storyline’s development remains tightly under wraps, but the focus is clear on expanding Rey’s journey and potentially exploring the hinted connections from previous films.

Meanwhile, Boyega is not slowing down, as he’s secured the lead role in a prequel series to The Book of Eli, set 30 years before the original film. This project also sees the return of writer Gary Whitta and directors Allen and Albert Hughes, adding a layer of continuity to the beloved post-apocalyptic story.

As the Star Wars universe continues to expand, Ridley’s upcoming film stands out as a significant piece, potentially setting a new course for the Jedi narrative. While Ridley juggles press for her current project, Young Woman and the Sea, anticipation builds around her future in Star Wars.

Although Obaid-Chinoy’s film was initially thought to be the first out of the gate following the newer developments in the Star Wars saga, Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian & Grogu film has since taken precedence in production.

With no set release date yet, speculation will undoubtedly continue, and all eyes will be on how this next chapter in the saga will integrate with the broader Star Wars narrative.
