COVID-19 Is The Batman’s New Nemesis As Filming Stops Indefinitely

With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to run its course across the globe, an increasing number of Hollywood productions have been hit hard in the midst. The latest of these is Matt Reeves’ The Batman, which has put all filming to a halt for the safety of its cast and crew.

Reeves himself went on social media to declare the cessation of production for The Batman “till it is safe for us all to resume”.

Having been knee-deep in principal photography for over two months now, this might raise questions as to whether the theatrical release of 25 June 2021 will be pushed back. However, neither Reeves nor Warner Bros. have commented on this.

At this point, it’s not a matter of if, but a matter of when exactly we’ll get to see our new Dark Knight, his suit, and his new Batmobile. For now, safety first, even for the World’s Greatest Detective.

Other film productions that have been struck by COVID-19 include The Matrix 4, Mission: Impossible 7, Disney’s Avatar sequels, and the Uncharted movie starring Tom Holland.
