Blumhouse Teases ‘Five Nights At Freddy’s 2’ Movie Poster With Dec 2025 Release

It’s time to survive another five nights. Blumhouse, the team behind 2023’s hit video game to movie adaptation, Five Nights at Freddy’s, has dropped the official poster for its sequel, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.

Unveiled during New York Comic Con (NYCC) 2024, and subsequently via X/Twitter, it gives a first look at Toy Freddy (a major character in the games), and more importantly, a release date of 5 December 2025.

The introduction of the Toy animatronics comes as no surprise, due to the release of behind-the-scenes photos earlier this year, but their inclusion does raise some important questions about the movie’s timeline. The Toy animatronics were first introduced in the second game of the series, which served as a prequel, and with the forthcoming movie seemingly following the events of that title, it would be interesting to see how they would be adapted to fit the film’s lore.

Josh Hutcherson and Matthew Lillard are set to reprise their roles as Mike Schmidt and William Afton respectively, with Hutcherson teasing an expanded world and new animatronic faces in a recent interview with Esquire. “It’s much bigger; the stakes are higher,” he commented, “There’s more animatronics being brought in, different animatronics being brought in, and the world just opens up in a big way.”

Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum first hinted at the sequel’s development in August, with a post on X/Twitter showcasing an image of an animatronic’s building process, alongside the caption “Jim Henson’s Creature Shop is working their magic again! We aren’t sure what they’re working on, but we know it will be great!” The title was promptly greenlit following a highly successful first outing, which broke movie records in its opening weekend, and went on to gross almost US$300 million worldwide.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is slated for release on 5 December 2025.
