Marvel Studios has officially confirmed Black Panther 3 is in development, just weeks after Denzel Washington revealed his involvement in the project. The news comes as the franchise continues to explore its future following the success of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which paid tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman and exceeded critical and box office expectations.
Although plot details remain under wraps, the confirmation hints at substantial progress behind the scenes. Denzel Washington’s recent comments suggest Marvel has been developing the film for some time, potentially with a well-defined script already in place. In an interview with Today Show Australia, Washington casually mentioned his role in Black Panther 3, stating, “Ryan Coogler is writing a part for me in the next Black Panther.”

Longtime Marvel Studios executive Nate Moore, who played a pivotal role in the Black Panther franchise, will depart his position following the release of Captain America: Brave New World in 2025. However, Moore confirmed he will remain involved with Black Panther 3 in a different capacity.
Reflecting on his time at Marvel, Moore expressed gratitude for his decade-plus journey, stating, “Nearly everything I know about producing I’ve learned from my time at Marvel Studios. I feel lucky to have worked with a group of people who love filmmaking and storytelling as much as my Marvel colleagues and the cast and crew of our films. But I couldn’t be more excited to apply my experience and passion for film towards theatrical movies in all genres, including returning to the world of Wakanda for Black Panther 3 .”
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and longtime Marvel producer Louis D’Esposito also praised Moore’s work, “Nate is a fantastic executive and colleague as well as a wonderful friend to all of us here at Marvel Studios.” “He has been a core member of our team since 2010, and his influence will continue to reverberate in our storytelling. Although we’ll miss him a great deal, we look forward to watching what he does next while also having the good fortune of working with him in a new way on our next Black Panther movie.”

The announcement places Black Panther 3 alongside other highly anticipated Marvel projects like Fantastic Four, Avengers: Doomsday, and Avengers: Secret Wars. While no official release date has been set, speculation suggests the film could debut in late 2026 or early 2027.
Black Panther 3 is expected to build on the groundwork laid in Wakanda Forever, which introduced Toussaint, T’Challa’s son, as a potential heir to the Black Panther mantle. The sequel may focus on Toussaint’s journey, Shuri’s continued leadership, or even Wakanda’s role in the broader MCU.
While fans await more details, both Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever are available to stream on Disney+. With Washington joining Black Panther 3 and Coogler at the helm, the future of the franchise looks bright.
