‘Beyond: Two Souls’ Gets Show Adaptation From Original Game Star, Elliot Page

The recent success of The Last of Us and Fallout has sparked a resurgence in video games to TV adaptations, and Beyond: Two Souls is the latest addition to the list. A small-screen reimagination of the story-driven adventure title is currently in the works from Elliot Page, who starred in the original game.

As reported by Deadline, the actor’s Pageboy Productions has acquired the rights from developer Quantic Dream, with the project said to be in early development. Not much else is known about it, including casting details and release plans, but fans can expect efforts to be poured into exploring the core non-linear narrative.

“The story’s rich narrative and emotional depth offer us a fantastic foundation. We want to create a unique vision of the characters and their journeys that resonates with fans and newcomers,” shared The Umbrella Academy actor, adding that Beyond: Two Souls was “one of the most challenging and fulfilling acting experiences” of his career.

The series adaptation also sees Page collaborating with game director and writer David Cage, though the extent of his involvement is unclear. “I was blown away by his acting performance in the game, and I couldn’t think of anyone else to tell this story with the same passion on another medium,” he said.

Beyond: Two Souls is a very special game for millions of players around the world who were moved by the story of Jodie and Aiden, and their journey in life and beyond. I know that Elliot has all the talent and instinct to make it something really unique on TV.”

Released in 2013 for the PlayStation 3, the original game follows the story of Jodie Holmes, a young woman with psychic powers who becomes embroiled in a spate of government conspiracies and supernatural forces. Connected to an incorporeal entity named Aiden, she must navigate military exploitation and other threats while discovering the true nature of her powers.

It was known for its non-linear story, alongside the inclusion of big-name actors like Page and Willem Dafoe (the Spider-Man films, Nosferatu), who plays Jodie’s surrogate father figure Nathan Dawkins. The game received a subsequent launch on the PS4 and PC in 2015 and 2019, respectively.
