The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, the upcoming series of four biographical films based on the lives and career of the iconic English pop band, has added Sonic the Hedgehog star Ben Schwartz to its ensemble cast as prolific disc jockey Murray Kaufman, also known as Murray the K.

As reported by Variety, Schwartz will portray the New York City rock and roll impresario and disc jockey, who was an ardent supporter and friend of The Beatles, to the point that he was eventually referred to as the “Fifth Beatle”. Schwartz joins the film’s ensemble cast that includes Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harrison Dickinson as John Lennon, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison.
Each film in the tetralogy will centre on a different member of The Beatles’ point of view, with their stories intersecting to encompass the band’s entire journey from their humble beginnings in Liverpool in 1960, to the heights of “Beatlemania” and finally their break-up in 1970. The film would also mark the first time producer Apple Corps and the Beatles have granted full life-story and music rights for a scripted film.
Directed by 1917’s Sam Mendes, other members of the film’s cast include Saoirse Ronan, Anna Sawai, Aimee Lou Wood, Mia McKenna-Bruce, Harry Lloyd, and James Norton as Linda McCartney, Yoko Ono, Pattie Boyd, Maureen Starkey, The Beatles’ producer George Martin and manager Brian Epstein, respectively.
The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event is currently being shot in the United Kingdom, with Sony Pictures financing and distributing all four films globally with theatrical windows in April 2028.
