Bandai Namco Demands Fans Get Ready For New ‘Tekken’ Game At EVO 2022

If you have been following EVO 2022 for all the fighting game goodness, then perhaps Bandai Namco’s Tekken series is one you are interested in. While the Tekken 7 Grand Finals were worth watching, there will be even more exciting stuff coming the way of fans. As teased by Bandai Namco, it seems that a new Tekken game is in active development.

Originally slated as a trailer for the next Tekken 7 update, fans watching till the end will see something quite familiar. The iconic scene of when Kazuya Mishima throws his father, Heihachi Mishima, off a cliff is legendary stuff, but just when it zooms in on Kazuya’s face, a new and modern render is shown. More importantly, the trailer asks viewers to get ready.

What should we be getting ready for then? Will this be Tekken 8, or based on the scene shown, could this be a remake or reboot in the making? Nothing can be said for certain, with series director Katsuhiro Harada briefly showing up on the official EVO stream but never touching on the tease.

Either way, we know something is brewing over at Bandai Namco when it comes to the Tekken series, and that’s all we need right now. It shouldn’t take too long before more is revealed, and whether it is a sequel or a reboot/remake, it will bound to be another quality fighting game worthy of the world’s stage.

In the meantime, there’s also the Netflix anime to look forward to, with Tekken: Bloodline set to debut on 18 August.
