ASICS Rolls Out Transformers Treatment For Classic GEL-Lyte V Kicks

The famed GEL-Lyte V model may have been first released in 1993, but ASICS is far from leaving it as a relic of the past. Over the years, the classic silhouette has received a whole lot of design upgrades, and its latest outing will see it transformed into a pair of, well, Transformers-themed kicks.

Retaining the Japanese brand’s signature GEL cushioning and shock-absorbing technology, the sneaker comes decked out in a muted grey base, with interchangeable flaps that are placed over the heel and lacing sections. The swappable panels sport three Autobot options: a red one featuring the Autobots logo, a yellow counterpart taking on a Bumblebee aesthetic, and a blue, Optimus Prime-inspired design.

And should you wish to be the big bad because being the good guy is overrated, there’s also the matching grey Deception set that has Megatron’s name emblazoned in red. That’s just Prime, indeed.

The complete look is rounded up with the insoles, which will feature extra graphics from the series. For a complete geeky outfit, though? Check out ASICS’ selection of Transformers apparel as well, which ranges from S$59 to S$139.

Interested parties may head over to Billy’s Tokyo (Â¥14,300) or the official ASICS website (S$169) to grab a pair of the limited-edition Transformers runner, and the latter only for the themed apparel. In Singapore, you should also pop by the nearest Limited Edition store to have a gander as well.
