The COVID-19 pandemic has no doubt been a nuisance to the daily lives of many around the world. With many governments ordering folks to quarantine themselves, there needs to be a way to battle the boredom while cooping oneself up at home.
Thankfully, iOS users will be greeted with free e-books and audiobooks from the Books app, thanks to Apple. It isn’t clear whether this promotion is available outside of the US, but one good way to check whether your country qualifies is if you receive the push notification which says this:
Enjoy a good book, on us
Explore free books, read-alongs for kids, cozy mysteries, and audiobooks for the whole family.
If you have it, then tapping on the push notification will open up a selection of free e-books and audiobooks up for grabs on the app. An alternate way to check whether the free stuff is available in your region is to open up the Book Store section of the app, under Featured Collection. There, you should be able to find the free books for download.
The promotion will run for a limited time, so it’s best to grab them while you can.
And if the Apple freebies aren’t available in your region, fret not, as other companies are making their products free during this time of quarantine, such as Audible audiobooks, and a host of video games by various publishers.
Marion has a serious RPG addiction. Sometimes it bleeds into real life; he forgets to sleep because he thinks he has a Witcher’s body clock. Forgive him in advance if he suddenly blurts out terms such as “Mind Flayer” and “Magic Missile”, because never once does he stop thinking about his next Dungeons & Dragons game.
