‘Andor’ Director To Helm ‘Star Trek’ Prequel Movie

A Star Trek prequel movie is in the works, with Andor director Toby Haynes helming the film, written by Seth Grahame-Smith (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter). The prequel will be set more than 10 years before the Star Trek film series directed by J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens).

Fans also got an update on Star Trek 4, which is said to be in active development. The fourth film in the series has been in development since 2016, with no further news on the project since then. The plot would have involved Chris Pine’s Captain James T. Kirk and the Enterprise crew on more adventures, with Kirk finally meeting his father, George Kirk, played by Chris Hemsworth.

Casting details have not been announced for the Star Trek prequel movie, but it’s likely it’ll get an all-new cast due to the shift in timeline. Grahame-Smith, most known for writing the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, along with the Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter novels, will work along with Haynes and Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions to bring the film to life.

Details are scarce on the new film, but we expect we’ll be hearing more news as production gets underway.
