Amazon’s ‘Invincible’ Season 4 Soars Towards 2026

Season 3 of Prime Video’s animated superhero series Invincible might have just wrapped up last week, but Amazon is already forging ahead with season 4 towards a planned 2026 release window.

Announced via a post on the official Invincible X/Twitter account, season 4 is set for “sometime in 2026”, with the post also revealing that voice acting has been completed and teasing the appearance of Grand Regent Thragg, the main antagonist of the original Invincible comics.

As the most powerful Viltrumite and the ruler of the Viltrum Empire, Thragg is poised to be the greatest threat Invincible has ever faced thus far. His appearance shouldn’t come as a surprise for fans though, as series creator Robert Kirkman previously alluded to his appearance during an interview with Variety, explaining that “it would certainly be weird if [Thragg) didn’t show up in the show”. Despite the character’s casting, no voice actor for Thragg has been officially named yet.

While the appearance of Thragg might delve into familiar territory for fans of the comics, season 4 is also set to introduce new story arcs that expand beyond its comic source material, with an original storyline centred around the demon detective Damien Darkblood, voiced by Clancy Brown, who was shown in season 3’s post-credits scene speaking to an unknown demon voiced by Bruce Campbell, hinting at his return after being banished to hell in the show’s first season.

“In the comics, [Darkblood] was never sent to hell… We always wanted to figure out a way to get [him] back into the show,” Kirkman teased, ” Every superhero story has some chapter where they go to hell and they fight the devil… So it’s entirely possible that we may be doing something like that in the show, and that scene at the end of that episode is setting that up.”

With voice acting now complete, it’s also possible that season 4 might bring back some characters introduced in season 3, such as Aaron Paul’s Powerplex, Simu Liu’s Multi-Paul or Kate Mara’s Becky Duvall. All this remains to be seen as season 4 of Invincible approaches its targeted release date sometime in 2026.
