Chris Pratt has teased that Star-Lord, the character he portrayed in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy film franchise, will return to the MCU, explaining that he has taken steps to ensure audiences see more of the superhero.

As reported by Variety, Pratt confirmed the character’s return during an appearance on The Playlist’s “Bingeworthy” podcast, where they discussed Star-Lord’s comeback. “I have a great relationship with [Kevin Feige] and [Lou D’Esposito], and there have been both ongoing conversations about how we make good on that promise and also hard action taken to make sure that we make good on that promise,” he explained. “So yeah, you’ll see Star-Lord again, which is very exciting, but I’m not at liberty to say when that’s going to be, but he’s not going anywhere.”
Pratt had stated that he already had an idea for how Star-Lord would return to the MCU, as stated during a previous interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, and now, when asked if he had already pitched this idea to studio head Feige, Pratt responded with, “Yep. And I think that, you know, I’m down to contribute any way I can to them setting up the next 10 years of storytelling, you know? And also, I have a pretty strong idea of how I think I could contribute to that.”
Pratt made his MCU debut as Star-Lord in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, a role he would go on to reprise in its 2017 sequel, 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, and most recently, 2023’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which promised via a line of text at the end of the film that Star-Lord would return.

Star-Lord will not return in Marvel’s next film, Avengers: Doomsday, however, which is set to launch on 18 December 2026, which poses the question of when fans will see him on-screen next, whether it be 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars or a potential fourth Guardians of the Galaxy film.
