Apple might be late to the foldable smartphone game, but fashionably so, as the iPhone Duo is finally here, proving that you don’t have to be the first to make an impact. With its sleek curved titanium frame and impressive matte nano-texture screen, this passport-sized foldable certainly stuns, but how does its gaming performance stack up?
Much like the iPhone 18 Pro Max, the iPhone Duo is powered by the company’s latest A20 Pro chip, with a 6-core CPU and a 7-core GPU. Except this time around, everything plays out on a 7.6-inch LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED display when unfolded, coupled with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR support.
Putting Apple’s first foldable through a gaming gauntlet of Delta Force, Zenless Zone Zero, and Genshin Impact, it’s clear the iPhone Duo is just as performant as its non-foldable counterparts, albeit slightly less optimised, since this is the company’s first run at the form factor after all. All three games ran with noticeable black bars since the apps weren’t updated to suit Apple’s newest screen ratio, while Genshin Impact experienced some stutters here and there. The biggest drawback, though, was thermal performance, as the device tended to get uncomfortably hot during use, but on the flip side, it did manage to cool down pretty fast too.
