‘LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight’ Launch Trailer Pays Tribute To Nolan, Akira, And Seal

Ahead of its launch on 22 May 2026, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has received its launch trailer, which pays homage to the Caped Crusader with a barrage of references and tributes, including recreations of iconic scenes across the film franchise and pop culture nods, all set to Seal’s Kiss From a Rose, which was used in 1995’s Batman Forever.

The game is set to pay homage to some of Batman’s most iconic scenes from the movies, including those seen in Christopher Nolan’s trilogy, such as Joker leaving the hospital dressed as a nurse in 2008’s The Dark Knight, or Henri Ducard’s speech in 2005’s Batman Begins. The game will even feature scenes from lesser-loved films, such as nods to the finale of the notorious 1997 movie Batman & Robin.

All this is set to the tune of Seal’s 1994 hit Kiss From a Rose, which was made popular thanks to its appearance in the soundtrack for Batman Forever. The song was originally requested by director Joel Schumacher to be used in the film’s love scene between Batman and Nicole Kidman’s Chase Meridian, but ultimately wasn’t featured in the film itself, and only during its credits scene. Still, the fact that TT Games and Warner Bros. Games decided to use the track for their trailer clearly shows that the teams are dedicated to positioning LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight as a love letter to its titular hero.

As a LEGO game, the title will also unsurprisingly pay homage to numerous pop culture references, with the trailer ending on a shot of Batman on his Batcycle performing the iconic Akira Slide from the 1988 film Akira. Elsewhere, we also get further looks at the game’s Arkham-inspired combat, stealth mechanics, and a massive LEGO-fied Gotham to explore as either Batman or other iconic characters like Robin, Catwoman, and Commissioner Gordon.
